THE TECHNOLOGY :
The patented Ecolotec® system consists of a jacketed pressure/vacuum vessel into which infectious (Red Bag) waste is loaded. The vessel is fitted with internal knife hammers, which rotate at 1750 revolutions per minute to shred the waste. Steam is injected to raise the temperature to 273° F. The violent knife action creates a vortex, ensuring all waste comes in contact with steam. This eliminates cold spots and drastically reduces the time needed for sterilization.

Once sterilization parameters have been achieved, the program goes to a post vac system.  Excess moisture is pulled off via a negative pressure.  Once the vacuum is released, cooler air equalizes the pressure facilitating a quicker cool down.

The average cycle time is less than 10 minutes. On average, the machine processes in excess of 350 pounds ( 221 liters) per hour.

The computer also has a safety program which will automatically lengthen the sterilization time in the event of a rotary tool failure. This is called the “ARMS” mode and guarantees that operators are not exposed to blood borne pathogens.
